Ubisoft revokes The Crew licences

The perils of digital gaming were brought into stark relief last week when Ubisoft started removing licences for its open-world racer The Crew from players’ Ubisoft Connect libraries.

Ubisoft announced last year that The Crew’s servers would be shut down in April, meaning the game’s online-only status would render it virtually unplayable.

However, to have the game removed from players’ active libraries is perhaps a step too far, denying fans the opportunity to keep the game running through modding. Here’s hoping this egregious set of circumstances is avoided for future titles.
